No matter what you’re focused on achieving through your Law of Attraction exercises, it’s common to reach a point where you wonder what you need to do in order to achieve the next step. In fact, you might find yourself feeling frustrated or disillusioned, confused what might be holding you back.
As it turns out, there are certainly some common, self-sabotaging behaviours that might be holding you back. Here are some of the main ones, along with tips for making the changes you need.
Whether you’re thinking that you can't attract love right now, that you can’t do something challenging at work or you can’t achieve your weight loss goals, this self-defeating attitude can often crop up in the face of a new and intimidating task.
One useful thing you can do when you hear your inner critic says “I can’t” is to ask yourself this: what’s the worst that could happen, really? When you make the intangible tangible in this way, you will likely find that even the most negative outcome isn’t as scary as your anxiety or self-doubt suggest.
Next, try figuring out a game plan for that worst-case scenario; this can go a long way towards helping you find your confidence.
You might be trying to please your family members, your partner, or someone you work with, but no matter who you are attempting to satisfy you are adopting the wrong type of attitude.
The things you attempt to achieve and the goals you attempt to manifest should be ones that truly reflect your authentic self; the things that make you happy, and that make you feel alive.
If you live to make others happy, you will miss opportunities to find your real purpose and may never reach the levels of satisfaction that are possible.
Give some thought to why you feel the need to please others and try to accept that it is your right to pursue and achieve a life that pleases you.
In truth, you’ll probably do more good in the world if you follow your real passions anyway.
It’s tempting to compare ourselves to others, especially if we’re just starting out in a new workplace, a new field of study, or a new fitness class. Even when we don’t have other people around us, we might look to the most successful and think we can’t possibly do such a good job (e.g. when starting a business).
Try to trust your instinct and your passion, and know that the Universe has brought you this opportunity because it’s right for you in the present moment. Everyone has something unique and valuable to bring to the table. Remind yourself of that, and focus inwards instead of outwards.
It’s common to think that certain bad habits, ways of behaving, or ways of responding to particular emotions are fixed and unchangeable.
In addition, we can be obstinate about how we do things, insisting that we should continue in the same way because we’ve “always done it this way”.
This type of rigidity will hold you back from growing and developing in the ways that help you become your best self (especially in a work setting), so try to be curious and flexible about the idea of change. It doesn’t always have to be grueling or frightening; it can actually be freeing.
Along with comparing ourselves to others, we often hold ourselves back by making up reasons why we’re just not the kind of person who can accomplish a particular goal. Whether you worry you’re too young, too old, too inexperienced, or something else entirely, recognize these thoughts for what they are: excuses that stop you from having to leave your comfort zone.
Finally, attitudes associated with failure are perhaps the most common blocks to achieving the next step in life.
Often, we’re so paralyzed by the idea of not succeeding that we don’t even give ourselves a chance to do so. And if you’re focused on thoughts like this, you vibrate on a frequency of lack rather than abundance, significantly reducing your ability to manifest your deepest desires.
The best thing you can do is learn to view failure as helpful, rather than terrifying.
Look at it this way: every time something doesn’t work out the way you planned, you learn something new that ultimately puts you on the path to where the Universe needs you to go.
