Contrary to popular belief… it’s not what you know, or even who you know that matters most in life. The key skill that ultimately determines your destiny is your ability to execute and drive results.
So let’s get busy and start focusing on you and your overall results! Keep reading to discover my top tips for getting results and finally changing your life. First, however, is the question… Are you ready for change?
Here are three things I will not stop reminding you because they are the most important things to understand if you want to see a difference.
So to sum up, the one and only thing you really need to do is JUST CHANGE!
Easier said than done, right?
Yes, that’s right, you need to start saying NO more often.
Many life coaches will focus on how you need to be saying YES more often to find more opportunities, but it is often exactly that which is holding you back.
Stop saying YES to toxic people in your life and situations that keep making you unhappy. You probably know this already, you’re probably saying YES just because you’re afraid to hurt someone’s feeling, but then kick yourself almost immediately.
You need to learn to say NO.
The next time you feel caught between wanting to make someone else happy and wanting to make yourself happy, just remember: every time you are saying NO to something that is not important, you are really saying YES to the things that are.
You know all those voices in your head saying “you can’t” and “this is not possible”. Learn to ignore them.
Think of this as a challenge. Push yourself to do things even if you think it is a mistake.
Do you want to go talk to that stranger, but are afraid you will look weird and just embarrass yourself? Do it anyway.
And, for example, do you want to apply for a promotion, but are afraid you don’t have the right skills and your boss will just laugh at you? Do it anyway.
Yes, the world can be a scary place. But you need to be able to move past your fears in order to get things done.
I want you to look at your YTD results, right now and repeat after me, results are everything… results are everything… results are everything.
Allow me to explain why…
THE GREATEST WASTE of untapped resources in this world are the dreams, goals, ideas, and intentions that don’t translate into results.
On a global scale, there is a chronic disconnect between intentions and results, as the goals that companies and individuals set for themselves often bare little resemblance to the results that they actually achieve.
Eventually, we all come to the same conclusion… it’s just that some of us get the message faster than others.
Intentions have never once put food on your table, or clothes on your back.
Your intentions have never put muscle on your body, nor gasoline in your automobile.
Intentions have never put money into your bank account, or paid for any of your expenses.
And, intentions have never once helped you to run a marathon, learn the guitar, paint the house, mow your lawn, nor build a successful business.
While good intentions are indeed honorable… in the end, the ONLY thing that matters is your ability to execute and drive results.
Read this next line slowly…
This truth applies exactly the same way to a sales person’s ability to meet or exceed quota, to a student’s ability to maintain good grades in school, to a Coaches ability to build a winning record, as well as to a parent’s ability to raise strong, healthy, self-confident children.
There is absolutely NO EXCEPTION to this truth…. as we ALL get measured by the means, as well as the ends of our results.
You see… when speaking, coaching, or training, I always look people in the eye and I say to them; “don’t tell me what you’re going to do, show me…show me what you’ve already done.”
In order for me to coach you to optimal performance, I need to understand what you have already accomplished for the simple reason that the best predictor of future behavior is past behavior.
I believe that behavior never lies and by examining your results, I can see a clear picture of your commitment, I can gain an innate sense of your character, I can grasp a near-perfect understanding of your beliefs, and I can most certainly see what you are really made of.
Both success and failure leave clues, big… fat… significant impressions that tell a story of your actions and reactions, your starts and finishes, your breakdowns and breakthroughs.
Your results are a reflection of what you believe to be true about yourself. Your results tell me how you think, your results tell me how you talk about yourself even when no one’s around, and your results tell me what you do or do not do every single day.
In a world filled with underachievers who spend their time wishing, dreaming and talking about success, it’s the men and women of action, the ones who know how to make things happen that we need to model, encourage and applaud.
