It can be tough to know where to look in order to find the right tools for using the Law of Attraction, especially when you’re just starting out. Unfortunately, many discussions of attraction and manifestation actually leave out some of the most crucial things you need to know; the types of things that can make the difference between succeeding and failing when you try to create a better life.
Here are five major things you’re probably not being told about the Law of Attraction, along with the explanations of why they’re so important.
One of the most popular misconceptions is that the Law of Attraction is something you “active” or bring into your life once you learn the skills required to do so. On the contrary, the Law of Attraction is working constantly. It is a background force that responds to our thoughts and feelings. Whatever we focus on is what we attract, whether our minds are filled with hope or negativity (and it’s not just the conscious mind that matters here).
So, if you want to work with the Law of Attraction in a productive way, you need to address your default mindset and try to make it more positive, even when you’re not actively trying to attract something.
Now that you know that the Law of Attraction is always working, you’re better placed to understand another fact that’s often left unspoken; it’s possible to attract the wrong things, entirely by accident.
As well as unwittingly attracting the wrong things by feeling anxious or maintaining a generally negative perspective, you can attract things you don’t want by worrying that you won’t get the things you do want. So, while you might set the intention to achieve a brilliant new job or a wonderful romantic partner, if you let pictures of failure into your mind and listen to your critical inner voice saying “You’ll never get that!” then you can attract the very opposite of what you intended to! That’s why a huge part of learning how to use the Law of Attraction involves reevaluating the messages you’ve received about who you are and what you’re capable of doing.
While it might not sound very intuitive at first, the fact is that you need to release the thing you want if you’re ever going to actually get it. You might be tempted to hold onto that desire for dear life, but you need to release it to the universe so that it’s free to travel and grow. You can release what you want by relaxing after you focus on your goal, comfortable in the knowledge that the universe is now taking over and propelling you towards success.
Think of it like throwing a ball; it won’t arrive at its destination if you can’t bring yourself to let it go.
I truly believe that knowing about the Intention Point and understanding how to work with it is the key to maximizing your use of the Law of Attraction. It’s too complex an issue to describe in just one paragraph. However, the vital fact that you need to know is that the Intention Point is the space between your heart and mind, and it needs to be balanced if you’re going to send out coherent signals about what you want to attract.
Once you learn how to locate your own Intention Point, you can learn a lot from its position and you can also work to rebalance this all-important part of you.

Finally, the Law of Attraction is often advertised as a sort of magical, immediate solution to all your problems. While learning about it really can mark the start of a much better life, it’s so important to be aware that it takes a while to get what you want. To use the Law of Attraction effectively, you need to at least master some basic skills (such as designing affirmations and doing creative visualizations), and you also really need to commit to the type of deep self-reflection that lets you jettison the negative beliefs that have been holding you back.
However, while I do caution you that it takes a while to get what you want, the upside is that you can see improvements almost immediately. Every day, you’ll notice you’re taking small but significant steps towards happiness and fulfillment. So don’t give up! Just be patient.
