While you may typically hear stories about people using the Law of Attraction to improve their dating strategies, boost their job performance and adjust negative thinking patterns, the beauty of the Law of Attraction is that it can actually be applied to almost any issue. This includes finding a pet by using the Law of Attraction.
So, if you’re looking to bring a new furry friend into your life but aren’t sure where to start with your search, there are exercises and tools you can use to maximize your chances of finding the ideal pet.
In many cases, what stops people from using the Law of Attraction to its full potential is negative underlying thoughts about their goal(s). Deep down, do you wonder whether you really deserve a loving pet? Has someone given you the message that it’s foolish to love a pet with all your heart? Do you worry that you can’t provide for one?
Figure out which assumptions or doubts might be holding you back, and work to combat each one. For example, you might write a journal entry full of the positive reasons why you deserve a pet, work through negative childhood messages with a therapist, or draw up a list of contingencies that help you see that you can cope with anything that might be challenging about pet ownership.
Creative visualization is especially important if you’re not quite sure what type of pet you’re looking to get (whether in terms of species, breed, or personality). Start by breathing deeply, sitting quietly, and gradually calming your mind.
Next, imagine yourself waiting for your pet to come to you—for the excitement, the love, and the sense of mutual understanding that you long to share with your new companion. Let this feeling build, and allow your imagination to create the pet.
It will approach you in your meditative visualization when your subconscious is ready to show you what you need. Allow this image of the pet to take shape without judging it.
When you have a clearer idea of the type of pet you might be looking for, make a habit of creatively visualizing that pet on a daily basis. As with any creative visualization, you’ll want to repeat a certain significant event or image in your mind, fully immersing yourself in the belief that this visualization represents your future.
While you can do your visualization work before bed or when you first get up (in order to continually focus your thoughts), it may also be smart to consider going through the process just before you’re going to have a chance to meet a prospective pet.
Maybe try creating affirmations, as affirmations go hand in hand with using the Law of Attraction, and finding a pet is no exception to this rule. Try something like “I will know when I see the right pet for me” or “The perfect pet is out there waiting for me, and I’m moving closer to finding it every day.”
You can say these affirmations out loud, write them down, or place them on signs where they can be seen as you go about your routine.
You can even set reminders on your smartphone so that it displays the relevant affirmations. The key is to repeat them or be exposed to them multiple times a day and to believe they represent the truth.
It’s also worth considering tailoring your affirmations to suits days when you might meet your new pet.
For example, you could say “I will attract the dog that is right for me” before going to meet a range of candidates at a shelter, or “Today is the day that I will meet my animal soul mate.”
There are many different ways to make a dream board, but you can get great results from using even the most basic techniques. Get yourself a corkboard or just clear a space on the wall, and fill that area with images and objects that connect you with your intention to find the ideal pet for you.
Obvious things to add include pictures of animals that are similar to the type that you’re looking for, but you can be as creative as you like. For example, you could include words or phrases that personally resonate with you when you think about the bond between humans and animals, you could cut out pictures or short articles from magazines, or you might even want to add some of your own art.
There are no hard and fast rules—you just want to create a montage that constantly keeps you in tune with your positive thoughts and beliefs about the pet you’re going to acquire in the near future.
