1. Take A Break From Social Media

Before you swoon from the sheer horror of this suggestion, know that this is your experiment, so you can try it for as long as you like.

A day, a week, a month…it’s completely up to you.

But unplug from the online world for a little bit, and see how your days change when you’re not stuck to your computer or smartphone.

2. Buy A Ticket And Just Go

Bus ticket, train ticket, plane ticket – just get a ticket and head off.

Travel is ultimately one of the best teachers there is.

3. Go It Alone

Better still, travel alone!

You’ll be putting your capabilities and independence to the test, and can become a stronger person for it.

4. Befriend A Stranger

The attractive stranger at the bar, the lonely-looking person sitting on the bench, or the guy/girl next to you in the queue…

It doesn’t matter who they are, try an impromptu experiment in getting to know others. It’s important to make yourself vulnerable every now and again.

5. Turn Off The News

Ignorance can be bliss, but this isn’t about being ignorant, this is about tuning out the negativity for a set period of time.

Choose to not pay attention to the news for a while, and see if there are any changes to your outlook, positive or negative.

6. Do Something For Your Health

Try eliminating coffee, meat or even sugar from your diet. Whatever it is that you think you cannot live without, get rid of it.

See what happens. The majority of us have our food or drink addictions, so why not make it a personal challenge to cut all ties with one of yours – even if it’s only for a week.

Show yourself you can do it and do something positive for your health in the meantime.

7. Make A Reservation For One

In an unhealthy relationship? Just had your heart broken? Been single for a while?

Enjoy having some space of your own and avoid rushing into anything for a while. Embrace being your own person!

The majority of people struggle to be alone, so use this as an opportunity to prove to yourself that you can do it, and grow in the process.

Even if you’re happily coupled up, occasionally doing things alone – taking a trip, making a restaurant reservation for one – can give you improved confidence.

8. Act From The Heart

Go the extra mile for another person.

Don’t just throw a few pennies into the homeless guy’s cup; why not stop for a chat instead? Or offer to buy them a meal?

Step outside of your comfort zone for the sake of someone else, and expand your own horizons in the process.

9. Don’t Hold Back

For once, don’t hold back or bite your tongue about something. Speak up and make your feelings on a situation be known.

This doesn’t mean that you have to go out of your way to be mean or rude; just try being honest for a change.

10. Move Somewhere New

Live abroad, move to a new town or move for somebody that you love.

See just how adaptable you are to change and where life takes you once you’re out in a different part of the world. This is a must-have experience for everyone.
